Dennis Boutwell is a Principal within FTE’s Global Consulting practice. He has a broad base of experience with extensive background across operations, quality, manufacturing engineering and program management. Throughout his career, Dennis has driven the development and implementation of new or optimized technical and business processes to drive measurable gains.

He has successfully directed all aspects of new and existing plant startups, exceeding all internal/external guidelines including safety, timing, cost, quality and delivery. Dennis has monitored and improved quality control and assurance practices to increase operational efficiencies/profitability for both Fortune 500 and small organizations.

Notable experience and accomplishments:

  • Created common manufacturing and business process for a multiple site machining and foundry operation
  • Implemented common Operations Excellence process at multiple sites for an OEM of highly customized vehicles
  • Led team of Production Control, Manufacturing Engineering and Continuous Improvement talent through several product launch cycles across four primary manufacturing locations
  • Professional development of leadership at all levels in lean manufacturing implementation
  • Designed and implemented multiple tooling solutions to improve safety, quality, and throughput
  • Led installation and operation of A-Coat and Powder Coat Paint systems
  • Drove large-scale lean transformation effort involving 12 plants for a large automotive 3 PL / Value Added Assembler
  • Held multiple operations leadership roles in automotive Trim, Chassis, and Final Line including all quality responsibilities
  • New program launch/pilot management for automotive OEMs
  • Implemented Lean Culture and tools for People, Safety, Quality, Throughput, and Cost systems In multiple facilities with a record of eliminating millions of dollars in waste and increased overall plant quality.

Prior to joining FTE, Dennis was the Director of Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement for a North American specialty vehicle manufacturer where he had leadership at four locations.  Prior to that he had VP oversight of eight Machining and Foundry operations for a Global Manufacturing OEM and held various different roles within OEM’s and Large 3PL/Value Added Assemblers.

Dennis Boutwell holds a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from Hamilton University.
